Stalinism has gone wild under the cowardly Starmer regime – as has dishonesty

The Stalinism of Keir Starmer and his factional allies has reached new depths with news that the party aims to use its approaching annual conference to cut Labour members and unions out of future leadership contest elections, in what his faction claims will only apply if Labour is in power.
And in truly 1984 fashion, Starmer’s red Tories are blaming the appalling and transient Tory PM Liz Truss as their excuse for this further assault on party democracy and members’ rights, claiming their reason for it is to ensure Labour never gets stuck with such a useless leader – clearly Keir Starmer doesn’t do mirrors, except to check his quiff. Others, a fraction more honest, have given unnamed briefings admitting this is a move to keep the left out of the party forever.
The attempt to pass such a constitutional change at the conference should fail, given the power of the union block votes – but with the hard right in charge of Unison, GMB and other unions and, crucially, Sharon Graham at Unite playing poodle with the Kid Starver, there might just be enough votes for the move to succeed.
Just as likely, though, is that this is a bargaining ploy aimed at getting the unions to accept the anti-democratic ‘compromise’ of a return to the old ‘electoral college’ system that gave a couple of hundred right-wing MPs as much voting power as either the entire membership, or of all the unions combined, in choosing a new leader.
Either way, with the Starmlin machine in full and shameless control of candidate selections – despite a leadership campaign promise to members to give them more power in choosing who represents them, one of the full set of promises trashed by Starmer as soon as he had conned his way into the top job – such a move would ensure that Labour is only ever, forever more, a hollowed-out corpse animated only by billionaire and corporate donations.
Starmer is terrified of democracy, because he knows he personally becomes less popular the more people see of him and that his faction has nothing positive to offer politically (except to the billionaires propping it up). Even his general election ‘landslide’ saw him receive fewer votes that Corbyn in either 2017 or the ‘disaster’ of 2019 – and Starmer’s win was engineered by the use of the Reform ‘party’ to split the Tory vote to usher Labour through in eighty-nine seats, more than Starmer’s eventual majority of eighty-six.
How long will ordinary people tolerate being cucked and gaslit by the red and blue faces of privilege before they organise? Not long, hopefully, despite the Starmeroids’ intensified war on resistance and the means of communication and organisation.

I left Labour 10 seconds after Mr S was elected, I thought I knew what was coming but it has been even worse than I had imagined.
God a few of us socialists in Lab for many years suffered for Jeremy Corbyn by attending branch and constituency meetings and put up with the Right Wing Lab bores who tried to stop you doing anything!
I was in Lab about 45 years and can remember when Lab was half decent & we would debate resolutions but then all would go to the pub together tho Right Wing Lab MPs & union bosses at the top would try to stop anything radical.
The Right in Lab from my experience were generally poorly read, frightened of being radical, and had a picture of an ideal Lab leader (mainly a white male, a Blair look-alike, and a ‘moderate’).
The Lumpen Top Down Right Wing Lab MPs arrogantly think they are the adults in the room and Labour members are there only to leaflet and canvass, to be seen but definitely not heard, and these mugs even pay for this privilege!
And in my view in terms of the progress of humanity Right Wing Lab may well have never existed.
Lab by accepting Neo-Liberal parameters & by adopting the political choice of Austerity is doomed.
And perhaps in 5 years time the Right & Farer Right probably won’t split the reactionary vote so I believe our best hope is to build a new Left Wing Democratic Socialist Party probably around the current 6 Independents in Parliament. But it needs to be done soon, not in 4 years time; we need to start organising now and there are hundreds of thousands of Corbyn & Palestine supporters out there just waiting for the call.
Good post Bazza.
That greasy fucker’ll end up like ceausescu the way he’s goin on.
Hopefully, so will his enablers.
What’s needed is the list of the ten pledges to scroll down behind him when he delivers his
valiumspeech at conference, a-la liz ‘lettuce’ truss’.…Who wailed that it was “an attack on democracy” (and was roundly laughed at for that, too).
The toolmaker’s boy would stamp his feet – not for Ukraine, as david lammy’d believe – but in a huff.
Oh, and one of those mobile jumbotrons parked at the main thoroughfare to the conference centre/hall**, playing a loop of all the shit keef’s reneged on and all the times he’s proved himself to be the godawful useless gawp he truly is.
…Although playback would have to start a week before conference and run a week over at least to get it all in.
**But right on the edge of the security perimeter, so plod can’t do a dicky-bird about it.
These are dangerous times. Toffees comparison to Drac was not that far from the mark. We already have a securitate team but we also have a loyal flag waving military who give allegiance to a really weird commander in chief.
Our visible dissidents live under threat of arrest, our militant TU spokesmen are few and under threat. The right is confident and we are split. I have no answers and the last election showed me just where the oligarchs, their henchmen and handmaidens want to lead us. Poverty and misery not comfort and hope for our kids.
The extreme centre, as Tariq Ali describes it, is adept at divide and rule.
At present, it is putting into practical effect the kind of structures and processes, along with its own definitions of what constitutes ‘criminal’ activity – which have been a feature of the approach of the LP bureaucracy towards non-compliant members and elected representatives – by testing and honing them against the political “right”.
As outlined here (and you don’t have to subscribe to the world view of this source and those like it to recognise what is going on):
https://europeanconservative.com/articles/commentary/is-anti-establishment-rhetoric-now-a-far-right-offence/
The point being that defining anything which strays outside the narrowing Overton Window of The Official Narrative (TON) as “anti-establishment rhetoric” and criminalising it is unlikely to be limited in its use to the political right. These definitions and associated structures and processes will most certainly, as they have in the LP*, be used against the political left – as opponents of the Palestinian Genocide will attest.
Ask Richard Medhurst, who joins a growing list of “dissident” voices at all levels from across the political spectrum in the minority of the planet that is the Collective West being outlawed** in various ways by the same process, From higher profile names such as Scott Ritter, Andrew Tate and Pavel Durov to a plethora of ordinary people for what is effectively articulating thoughtcrime. From those making small donations to the Canadian Trucker protest the other year to anyone who uses the word Zionist – including non-compliant members of the Jewish Community. A familiar experience for Labour Party members over the past several years since the botched coup of 2016.
The establishment Junta which have taken over the LP, as was predictable, is extending its own convenient definitions of ‘due process’ practices used against non-compliant Party members to the rest of what little remains of UK civil society now that it is in Government (on only 20% of the eligible vote). Regardless of where anyone happens to be on the traditional political spectrum. In this regard, the Starmer Junta is merely following in lockstep the same processes in the service of a minority elite Oligarchy across the Collective West.
*As detailed previously on this site, local government Councillors of the traditional right of the LP have also been targeted by the managerial authoritarians who occupy and control the key decision-making positions and levers of the Party.
**Which also includes being removed from Social Media by so-called “Champions” of ‘free speech’ like Elon Musk. Who recently removed Egyptian comedian and Human Rights Activist Bassem Youseff who had 10m followers on X from Musk’s SM platform.
So, it’s not just socialism that Sir Kier is committed to DENY, DISCREDIT and REPUDIATE, it’s democracy too.
Wrong type of Labour members? Democratic Socialists.
Please Leave Labour, it’s already beyond salvation.
Exactly,
https://unherd.com/newsroom/labour-together-is-far-more-dangerous-than-momentum/
“Jess Sargeant, who previously worked at Labour Together, was recently appointed as deputy director in the Cabinet Office’s Propriety and Constitution Group. Unusually, Sargeant was not subject to an independent recruitment process. That would be concerning for any Civil Service role. Yet in this instance it is especially troubling, because the body in question is responsible for the enforcement of Whitehall rules. If you were a secretive, vanguardist organisation that wanted to parachute chosen candidates into roles with outsized influence, the Propriety and Constitution Group is where you would start.
What the Sargeant story reveals is that Labour Together is not only trying to influence individuals and policy, but also capture key parts of the permanent state apparatus. Keir Starmer has been in Number 10 for less than two months, and already we are witnessing a masterclass in anti-democratic politics….
….Since Starmer won the leadership, Labour Together has raised £4 million, a sum which makes the Right-wing think tanks of Tufton Street, so often the target of criticism from the Left, seem almost trivial by comparison.”
———————————————————
We have an incursion which the likes of the old Militant would salivate over, as lobbyist’s working for minority financial corporate interests have not only been parachuted into Constituencies over the heads of local CLP’s and onwards to be ‘Labour’ MP’s but shed loads of money has been poured into entryist organisations with the objective of permanently controlling the entirety of the State apparatus.
As Pepe Escobar observed in a recent interview, what we are seeing across the European continent, including the UK, is the post-modernist liberal Totalitarian State posing as a “democracy” in which the majority are regarded as little more than slaves to be cancelled, outlawed and even jailed for going against The Official Narrative (TON).
What the Blairite skum mean is we came perilously close to winning the election in 2017 that we were desperately trying to lose, and having to work with Corbyn but as PM!!!
“Stronger Together” my “buttocks”!
