Grassroots groups and left activists deter far-right thugs
Left-wingers and communities have turned out in force across the country tonight – and appear to have largely succeeded in shutting down or seeing off fascist thugs. Keir Starmer and his Home Secretary Yvette Cooper ordered Labour MPs tostay away.
In Liverpool, a large crowd of well-wishers appeared outside Merseyside Asylum link to counter a planned far-right riot – and appear to have deterred any who might have been thinking of causing trouble:
In Brighton, the few ‘fash’ who turned up soon slunk away faced with a huge show of unity:
And large crowds in Birmingham, Finchley and other London boroughs and across the north-east turned up to resist the hate mobs, to similar effect. Pro-Israel Red Tories, rather than thank those who turned out for deterring neo-nazis, chose to attack the counter-protesters as ‘antisemitic’, presumably because of their support for Palestinian human rights against Israeli genocide – and were quickly called out for their nonsense:
Whether the fascist mobs will try again remains to be seen, but communities are showing they will not be terrorised by hate and thuggery.

… There was poor me, honestly believing that braverman’s complete fucking idiocy would be extremely hard-pressed to be surpassed. Well it seems keef has hit the motherlode on his very first attempt.
