Panel in Geneva announces findings of murder, starvation as a weapon and extermination and other crimes against humanity and human rights law
The UN Commission for Human Rights has announced that it finds Israel guilty of committing a string of war crimes, including murder, the use of starvation as a weapon, extermination, cruel and inhuman treatment, gender-based murder and violence, torture, forced displacement and collective punishment targeting women, children and disabled people since 7 October last year, in acts of ‘intentional strategy to cause maximum damage’ disregarding international law:
The UN’s Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories already in March declared Israel guilty of genocide and the International Criminal Court (ICC) has been asked to issue arrest warrants for leading Israeli politicians, while Israel is also on trial before the International Court of Justice for genocide. If Israel follows its usual modus operandi, all the UN officials involved in the latest declaration will quickly be denounced as antisemites.
It is time that the UK politicians who have enabled and provided cover for Israel’s war crimes were put on the ICC’s warrant list too.
