UCL, KCL students join burgeoning pro-Gaza encampment movement, call for support

University campuses in London occupied by opponents of Israel’s genocide

Students at UCL and King’s College London (KCL) have set up encampments demanding that their universities divest from Israel’s genocidal apartheid regime. UCL students have put out a call for support and supplies, starting from 2pm today (3 May):

COME DOWN AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!
🚨🚨TODAY AT 2 PM 🚨🚨

It’s time to join hands and show support for our local student encampment 🫶🏽Today join Dr Ghassan Abu Sitta and members of community at 2PM at UCL as we push for demands of divestment 🍉

Note: Counter protestors may be there. DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THEM.

✊🏽✊🏿✊🏻 Bring your friends, your exes, your grandmas, your neighbors and their neighbors. The people united will never be defeated.

🆘 The encampments have plenty of food, but need torches, batteries for them, blankets and other items to sustain the infrastructure. Consider grabbing something for them on your way in.

🇵🇸 Bring your flags, wear your kuffiyehs, let’s use our voices.

The student encampment movement in solidarity with oppressed and murdered Palestinians is growing rapidly, with at least ten universities affected so far: Goldsmiths in London, Bristol, Swansea, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield and Warwick now joined by the two new London institutions.

The growth echoes the spread of the encampment movement across the US, which has highlighted the strength of anti-genocide feeling and so rattled the pro-Israel establishment that the state is brutally attacking students and the many university academics supporting them, standing by while pro-Israel mobs attack and smearing peaceful protesters across the ‘mainstream’ media.

Solidarity with the students and their supporters. Solidarity with the people of Palestine against oppression, murder and apartheid. Updates from the movement are being posted by Palestine Youth Movement of Britain on Instagram at @pymbritain.
