Newmark “at centre” of JLM “financial matters” police referral

Former Chair Jeremy Newmark is allegedly ‘at the centre’ of the ‘certain financial matters’ referred to the police by the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM), according to the Jewish Chronicle.

Mr Newmark resigned as JLM Chair shortly after the Chronicle alleged financial impropriety while he was at the Jewish Leadership Council. Mr Newmark has denied all the allegations and has said he stepped down from the JLM because of diabetes.

A JLM email had previously reassured members that none of the ‘certain internal financial matters’ the organisation has referred to the police related to Mr Newmark, because national officers had “full oversight of all processes“.

A retired judge is set to chair an independent committee looking into the JLC allegations.
