In a short extra video outside his usual weekly series, Labour MP Chris Williamson takes on tax-avoidance and Labour’s readiness to end it when it power:
Ahh tax avoidance… isn't that just the sign of a normal, healthy society? #ParadisePapers pic.twitter.com/3QDFRIBkVa

The people of the country will be hoping eagerly that it won’t be long. Tax-avoiders, of course, may take a different view.

It can’t come too soon. The problem is that it will need another General Election to elect another Party to govern and much of the problem is that too many voters are locked into a safe Tory Parliamentary Constituency like me.
Democratic? It is NOT.
Snap 4foxandhare we live in Philip Hammonds constituency as safe a Tory seat as you can get….. our local NHS walk in center burned down a few months back and his response (whilst smirking( was “we have to decide what to do with the site” WTF buld a new walk in center would seem a bit obvious now it looks like they will sell it off to build houses …. as it’s right in the center of Weybridge they will be very, very expensive houses !
According to my calculator £350m into the NHS every week for 16 years could only be done by levying a 100% tax on the £300bn funds held offshore that Mr Williamson refers to. ie confiscating the money.
I wonder if that’s Labour policy.
What if it was?.
Parasites deserve to have the lot taken off them.
That raises some issues. eg https://www.ft.com/content/563ea65e-c314-11e7-b2bb-322b2cb39656
MPs’ pension scheme “like many pension funds” has funds offshore.
(But I think it’s actually Mr Williamson “doing a Ms Abbott” with the figures)
