Labour MP Clive Lewis hit the headlines last week for the wrong reasons over footage from a stage appearance at a Novara Media party.
Many have expressed the opinion that Labour’s opponents – and Lewis’ inside the party – are fabricating outrage – over a clip that has been in the public domain for almost a month – as a ‘dead cat’ to distract from the Tories’ ongoing Brexit disaster, especially in view of the fact that Lewis was talking to a man on stage. However, Lewis himself has held up his hands and apologised for his choice of words.
But the Tories appear to have been in conflict over their attempt to ‘milk’ a feeble premise by tabling, through MP Nusrat Ghani, an ‘urgent debate’ on the issue on the ludicrous grounds that Lewis had ‘undermined Parliament’.
The SKWAWKBOX understands from senior parliamentary sources that Ms Ghani faced pressure from Tory whips to drop her request because of fears that Tory skeletons would be dragged out of closets, but her colleague Amanda Milling MP appeared to try to raise it in the Commons Chamber as a ‘point of order’.
However, Ms Milling received a stern warning from Speaker John Bercow, who told her that he had received, from an unnamed MP, an “absurd and inappropriate application for a debate under SO24” which he had had to tell the MP would not be heard and that Ms Milling should not try to raise it even as a point of order.
It seems the Tories over-reached in their desperation to have something, anything to divert attention from the continuing haplessness of Theresa May and what passes for her ‘team’, whose cluelessness has been so profound that May has been accused in German newspapers of an undignified ‘begging for help’ from EU leaders in order to avoid returning to the UK looking even more forlorn than she has so far.
Tory HQ was contacted for confirmation and comment on these tortured events, but has so far failed to respond.

If, as it says in the article above, the video has been in the public domain for nearly a month, where exactly was it in the public domain prior to the press covering it?
I mean the video wasn’t on youtube prior to the story breaking in the press, so where was it, if it was actually anywhere at all?
What I’m trying to understand is why it is that it’s only hit the headlines now, after almost a month of being in the pubic domain.
As far as I am aware, there is just the one video/clip. Do we know WHO made the recording, and did it go straight from them to the press? In other words, was there a spy at the event hoping to pick up something or other to bash JC’s Labour Party with.
And just for your information, when I first checked the story on the websites of about half-a-dozen newspapers (Sun, Mail, Express, Mirror, Telegraph), I am 100% certain that at least three of them had the story as Clive Lewis having said it to a woman (Carol something I think it was), but when I just happened to check them again for some reason that escapes me now some ten/twelve hours later, they had all been ‘updated’ and were now referring to the (male) actor Sam whatever. And my point is of course, that the vast majority of people would have seen the initial versions – ie that he said it to this Carol ?, who was on stage – and would have had no reason whatsoever to go back and read it again and see that it’s been updated and, as such, that Clive DIDN’T say it to a woman.
Would be interesting to know what they said in their actual newspapers – the hard copies – (which usually have more than one edition as far as I am aware). And of course it was just purely a mistake that these newspapers had Clive as having said it to a woman initially. Of course it was. How could anyone think otherwise?

This absurdity having failed, they put that vile man Paul Staines aka wanker oops sorry @GuidoFawkes up to attacking Jared O’mara for some moronic thing he said FIFTEEN YEARS AGO! Not condoning what Jared said, it was nasty, however, it was 15 years ago, he apologised and said he was ashamed, what more can he do? Yet we on the left have been attacking him until he was forced to resign from the committee and he may have the whip withdrawn. When I think of all the vile things Staines and Johnson has said and Johnson actually saying he would get a journalist beaten up and he gets away with “oh it’s just Boris being Boris” it really gets up my nose! Jared was ypung then, who among us has not ever done or said something when we were young that we cringe about now? None of us if we’re honest. Sometimes I get so sick of the way so called Labour supporters act.
