Unite has won its court battle for an injunction against Birmingham City Council, preventing the council from implementing the redundancy notices it had issued – unlawfully and in contravention of its agreement with unions – to over 100 of the city’s refuse workers.
This is fantastic news for the workers and for all those who care about fair treatment of our public servants. The SKWAWKBOX will provide comments from the union’s chief negotiator shortly.
The full case will be heard in November. The council’s threatened redundancies were to take effect from 1 October but cannot now go forward.
