Exclusive video: Laura K gets a verdict delivered by SKWAWKBOX fans #GE17

In an entirely unplanned encounter, SKWAWKBOX fans from Shrewsbury found themselves with an opportunity to deliver a verdict on Laura Kuenssberg’s journalism on Tuesday afternoon, as a large and enthusiastic crowd waited for the arrival of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn at a rally in Telford.

Left-leaning viewers have long found Ms K’s narrative style of journalism to be deeply frustrating and she has again been at the centre of controversy this week when the Tory party promoted video of an interview between her and Corbyn in a smear attempt.

Ms Kuenssberg was judged by the BBC Trust to have been inaccurate and biased in the video, in which she spliced a different question into the interview, making it appear Corbyn was answering one question when in fact he was answering another. That verdict was upheld even after an appeal.

It speaks volumes for the desperation of the Tories that they have shamelessly promoted fake news (aka lies) this week to try to stop their slide – and for the suborned nature of much of BBC News that it has kept online a video which it knows amounts to fake news.

So it would be safe to say that the SKWAWKBOX expects little sympathy among readers for Ms K being “punk’d” as she prepared to broadcast a report on the rally.

Enjoy:

Sadly, the intrepid reader wasn’t able to get around to film from in front, but as a disabled fan it was a sterling effort.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Kuenssberg has been similarly caught. An enterprising young man delivered his own verdict at Labour’s (official) manifesto launch:

So it may be that this is going to become a thing. In which case, without in any way condoning the practice, this blog encourages its readers to send in photos or video.
