MiddlesbOrough-gate: Cameron responds

David Cameron has responded to the growing furore over ‘MiddlesbOrough-gate’ – the latest Tory gaffe in which the Tory candidate in the Middlesbrough by-election misspelled the name of the town he wants to represent in Parliament.

Taking a break from a ‘country supper’ at the house of a press contact who asked not to be named and insisted that ‘no relevant texts were sent about this!’ to demand a ‘right of reply’, Cameron said:

“This is an innocent mistake which any Tory who couldn’t care less about the plebs in that area could make. Where is this Middlesbruff, anyway…? More champers!”

(Credit to Phil Hornby for the original idea and Cameron response text!)
