Thousands of supporters have gathered in Spain as the Global Sumud Flotilla of more than fifty civilian humanitarian vessels from more than forty countries and their volunteer crews set sail to deliver food and medicines to Gaza and to spotlight Israel’s criminal starvation blockade:

Israel has bombed, boarded and impounded earlier individual vessels, holding their crews hostage. The larger sailing aims to deter Israel’s aggression and piracy, and to pressure Western governments to fulfil their duty under international law to act to end the starvation and Israel’s genocide, which has killed almost half a million people, nine out of ten of them civilians, so far, according to the Israeli military’s own data.
