Italy’s total block on arms exports to Israel shames ‘Labour’ government
Keir Starmer, Foreign Secretary David Lammy and the Starmer front bench are now to the right of Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and the fascist-adjacent Brothers of Italy party that she leads on Israel and it’s genocide in Gaza.
Meloni, who has spoken out before against Israel’s slaughter of Palestinian civilians, has announced her decision to ban all arms shipments to Israel.
Meanwhile, Labour made a token ban on a fraction of arms components that is designed to be bypassed because it still allows parts to be sent via other countries – and when challenged yesterday to say what action it will take to stop Israel bombing and burning innocent’s, a government minister Anneliese Dodds would only answer that the UK will keep monitoring the situation and Israel’s attacks.
Brothers of Italy is considered a descendant of Mussolini’s Italian fascists, but it is more interested in stopping mass murder than Starmer and his acolytes.

Whilst I do not doubt his commitment or even the government’s, I do find myself wondering how much that secret alliance* agreement between us and Israel is playing its part?
*The agreement is so secret that even sitting MPs are not allowed to view it.
I keep asking Lammy on his X feed if he has found a copy of the treaty that binds the UK and Israel. It seems we are back in the era of secrets diplomacy which included the Balfour letter and the Sykes-Picot agreement, to name but two.
We need to be careful here, fascists are well known for been antisemitic. Thus, while Meloni is doing the right thing here and should be congratulated on her stand for stopping the export of arms to Israel, perhaps she isn’t doing it for the right reasons.

Italy has 1,000 troops deployed in UNIFIL and in a separate mission known as MIBIL, which trains local (Lebanese) armed forces. “Even if there have been no casualties or extensive damage, I think that Israel’s attack on UNIFIL cannot be considered acceptable,” Meloni told the Senate.
“We believe that the attitude of the Israeli forces is completely unjustified,” she said, calling it a “blatant violation of U.N. Resolution 1701,” which aims at ending hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel.
Meloni reiterated her support for Israel’s right ito live in peace and security </, but stressed that it must be enforced in compliance with international humanitarian law. She said Italy has approved €17 million in new funding to help Lebanese people displaced since hostilities escalated. What's Starmer doing for Lebanon? Zilch.
