The amusingly-titled ‘Red Roar’ – the Bitterite ‘news’ site termed the ‘blue squeak’ among genuine Labour people for its nearness to Tory politics, alleged links to one of the worst right-wing sites and lack of anything approaching a ‘roar’ – manages a steady output of snarky nonsense, innuendo and sheer falsehood for which it only rarely apologises.
Although to be fair to the ‘Squeak’, the ‘roar’ of its name, like its logo, seems to come from the inappropriate predilections of the right-wing Labour MP closely connected to it, who likes his wife to call him ‘lion’ in private.
That record was maintained with yet another piece of snide fiction, when the Squeak claimed it knew who was going to be the Labour Party’s next London regional director:
Clearly the Squeak expects its readers to be appalled by what Labour’s left majority would consider a good appointment, as Labour members in London had long suffered the consequences of a regional machine dead set against supporting the party’s direction under its leader Jeremy Corbyn.
However, the ‘news’ is entirely without foundation. The deadline for applications for the position has not yet been reached and Labour insiders tell the SKWAWKBOX that Ms Rees has regrettably not gone for the role. There is, of course, still time for that to change.
Left-wing commentator Aaron Bastani asked the Squeak via Twitter whether it would be correcting its latest fake news, but as of the time of publication the tweet remained uncorrected and undeleted.
The Squeak’s other recent fake news includes:
- a still-uncorrected claim that a letter signed by thirty-four Orthodox rabbis in support of Jeremy Corbyn was a fake
- a laughable story published when it gullibly swallowed a mocked-up spreadsheet supposedly showed how key advisory positions would be filled when Labour returns to government
- a retracted claim that a magazine owed money to writers

Hard to take seriously anyone who confuses ‘it’s’ with ‘its’.
Likes to be called ‘Lion’ in private by his missus…
