Woodcock: constituency office abandoned, website suspended and more

Barrow and Furness’ former Labour MP John Woodcock appears to be finding life as an independent since his resignation over sexual harassment allegations a challenge.

Woodcock’s constituency office in Barrow has shut down and a notice on an outside wall directs constituents to an office in Ulverston, a ten-mile drive away:

The Ulverston office, however, is only open three days a week – and only for three hours on those days.

Woodcock’s parliamentary profile page makes no mention of the changed circumstances:

Not only that, but Woodcock’s website has also gone. Attempts to visit it render a message that it has been suspended – with a request to ‘contact the billing/support department as soon as possible‘:

Locals told the SKWAWKBOX that they believe Woodcock has rented a temporary space in the local Age UK office, but is not advertising its presence on the notice at his old Hartington Street office.

Mr Woodcock was contacted for comment and asked what is going on and whether he expects the situation to change, but he had not responded by the time of publication.

  1. We’ve all been there, haven’t we – parked the car in somebody else’s garage, wife emptied joint account and changed the locks – sleeping in the office, heating baked beans over a warm radiator, darning our own socks.
Happy days. I almost envy the poor schlub.

  2. Hmmm. I wonder what’s happened…

Wirral In It Together’s claims about him accepting Saudi hospitality sound sleazy and potentially damaging.

  3. Wirral in it Together speak with a straight tongue. I hope he has been removed from all the Trade Unions he has been affiliated to.

  4. Perhaps we shouldn’t be drawing attention to John’s misfortune, we don’t want to discourage the ‘usual suspects’ from following in his footsteps.
