Last year, Theresa May’s conference appearance was an unmitigated disaster, with a coughing fit that wouldn’t stop, a spoof P45 handed to her mid-speech, lines lifted straight from the West Wing and, most famously, the letters that dropped off the slogan behind her that said – originally and pricelessly – ‘Building a country that works for everyone‘. You couldn’t make it up – and didn’t need to.
It was so funny it even spawned a t-shirt.
This year, the conference lurched into farce even before it had begun, with the revelation that the Tories’ conference app – which was to be a topic of the opening speech the next morning – had a security problem so basic it beggared belief.
But it seems the Tories still haven’t quite learned the lesson about using detachable lettering in important places.
The Conservative Foundation tempted fate by using them – and again it turned out to be a bad idea:
Even more hilariously, the Tories are using what has been described as ‘more a wake than a conference’ to try desperately to persuade people that they can be trusted to run the country when they can’t organise a proverbial knees-up in a brewery.

It would be appropriate if independent news media shone a light on the reported three homeless people who are dying every day in the UK.
I passed a homeless person yesterday as I left a shop with my groceries. He was sat on the floor in the rain. He was soaking wet. I gave him some money then I went home feeling guilty.
Every single UK citizen who’s died through Tory Austerity during the Tory Conference period should be named and their photo displayed on posters up and down the length and breadth of the country.

There were fair criticisms first time I ever heard about Teressa May and her party by Sky News, Press Review. One of them said “Phillip Hammond is boring”. Nothing excites people. I often hear from News casters from Sky News first time ever since the Labour Conference about the issue of the general election. It seems General Election is really around the corner.
Not knees up in a brewery, a p….up in a brewery! Whoops, word malfunction.
Javid just got “hope” and “hate” mixed up in his utterly dismal and uninspiring conference speech.
Nothing at all significant in that I shouldn’t think.
Half-empty conference hall, even the BBC can’t avoid all the embarrassed faces and desultory applause.
