Jewish Labour Movement (JLM) members were informed by email last night that the organisation has called in police to investigate its finances, according to the Jewish Chronicle and Jewish News. An email from the group’s national secretary told members,
to ensure full transparency, openness and to protect the integrity of the movement, we have referred certain internal financial matters to the police for investigation
but did not elaborate on the nature of the ‘internal financial matters’.
It is unclear whether the move is connected to the recent resignation of its chair, Jeremy Newmark to fight ‘historical allegations’ of financial impropriety, which Mr Newmark has denied.
A JLM statement issued at the time of his resignation stated that:
The NEC wish to make it clear that there are no allegations whatsoever against Jeremy that relate to the Jewish Labour Movement. Our national officers have full oversight of all processes. We are confident that they are robust.

This appalling organisation is an utter disgrace. What is even more disgraceful is that they are officially affiliated to the Labour Party and are bringing it into disrepute by association. Amongst other things under Jeremy Newmark’s leadership the JLM have played their part in ramping up false allegations of anti-semitism in a bid to undermine Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership. I would urge your readers to sign and share as widely as possible my petition to get the JLM dis-affiliated from the Labour Party.

Yes and whilst the left has been the subject of vilification and fake claims of anti-Semitism by a triple alliance of: Right Wing Tories in the British Board of Jewish deputies (to attack Labour & Corbyn) by the right wing Israeli Govt (losing the pr battle globally and having The Israeli leader’s former Spin Doctor as UK Ambassador) and Perhaps Right Wing Labour jumping on the bandwagon (for their own ends) perhaps we should focus on the racist actions of the right wing Israeli Govt in threatening to deport Black migrants from Israel! But let’s make one thing clear – if the Far Right was ever to rise again even if Labour had nil support from Jewish people it would be Labour (and the trade unions) who would be on the front-line fighting alongside Jewish citizens, Black citizens, Asian citizens, Disabled citizens, LGBT citizens et al against the Barbarians! If Ella Rose is still in post as director of JLM it would go some way to explaining JLM’s rabid anti JC stance
Ella Rose worked at the embassy as public affairs officer between September 2015 and August 2016, when she joined JLM as its first director.
