Excl: mass resignation drama in Bexhill-Battle

In a startling move, the entire executive committee of Bexhill and Battle CLP (constituency Labour party) appears to have resigned by sending the following email to CLP members:

As all the executive officers have resigned, there is no one available at Bexhill and Battle to ask for comment. Details of the reasons for the mass resignation are still unclear, but if ‘disciplinary complaints’ against a single member are involved, there must be much more to the story than run-of-the-mill party discipline issues for an entire group of six executive officers to step down simultaneously and unanimously.

Labour’s south-east regional office have been contacted for comment and details are will follow when available.

    1. Said the man who knows absolutely nothing about what’s going on.Your comments say nothing about Bexhill & Battle CLP, but quite a lot about you.

  1. Let’s hope this doesn’t become a gift to the right wing press. The party must deal with it before someone goes public.

  2. Would someone from Bexhill please let us know the background to the dispute and the broad loyalties of the various participants without naming names at this stage – thanks.

    1. I’m a member of the CLP and we don’t know what has been going on it’s all been hidden by the EC. Any offending messages have been expunged. I think I know who they are referring too but without proof, I will be exposing my self to legal if I am wrong.

I really cannot understand why out of the blue all of the EC has removed themselves. No meetings have even been anything less than total well run and comradely. So something has been brewing hidden from sight and the bulk of the members are totally in the dark.

  3. IT MUST BE SOMETHING DIRE TO MAKE THE CLP OFFICERS RESIGN ON MASS!
ME, THINKS, COME TUESDAY, WE WILL GET TO KNOW WHY?
OR WE WILL BE IN THE DARK AS MUCH AS THE MEMBERS!

  4. Some people forget that CLP officers are volunteers and sometimes, without the advice and back up of paid party officials, they can be put in terribly stressful positions. I have no idea what the issues or who the individuals are, but I suspect political differences have played a part. It’s also my experience that certain people in the party hierarchy are ambivalent to some individuals expected to uphold party rules.

    1. Thank you for posting the Morning Star link. From bitter experience, it sounds all too familiar.
