The contest for three additional places on Labour’s NEC (National Executive Committee) is intensifying after the SKWAWKBOX publicised the fact that the website for the ‘independent’ slate is funnelling the details of anyone who registers straight to the right-wing groups Labour First and Progress – and revealed the closeness of the contest between ‘independent’ Eddie Izzard and ‘left slate’ Jon Lansman, the founder of Momentum.
Labour First even referenced the SKWAWKBOX’s revelation in its latest missive to its email list, albeit with sloppy formatting, poor spelling, hyperbole, dog-whistle terminology and a persistent fallacy:
Labour First are still calling their slate ‘independent’, a claim many Labour members consider laughable.
However, they also let slip their hope that one or more non-slate candidates will get onto the ballot to siphon votes from the left slate.
The additional left candidates Labour First is pinning its hopes on as vote-splitters are certain to get onto the ballot as only five nominations are needed. However, when ballots start to arrive at the end of November, votes for them are an indulgence that no pro-Corbyn member can afford in a tight race and with so much of the impetus of the real-Labour project at stake.
For those who wish to see the Corbyn review and the remaking of a genuine Labour Party in the image of its members succeed, there is simply no room for anything but discipline, focus and an absolute determination to get the job done – and certainly no room for cul-de-sac candidacies that can only impede the achievement of the real goal of offering the country a real and stable alternative to the Tories.

By falsely describing others as hard left, Labour First unwittingly exposes itself as a right wing organisation.
It is worth remembering that those on the right of the Labour party support apartheid regimes and also homophobic/misogynistic regimes like Saudi Arabia, a dictatorship which chops people’s heads off and exports and funds terrorism.
A vote for candidates supported by Progress and Labour First is therefore an endorsement of racism, homophobia and misogyny.
