Breaking: huge win for left candidates in vital #CAC election

News just in that left-wing, grassroots candidates Seema Chandwani and Billy Hayes have won by a landslide in the crucial election for Labour’s CAC (Conference Arrangements Committee):

Congratulations to both candidates – and to the people who organised, campaigned and voted for them to overcome questionable behaviour by Labour HQ and ‘surprising‘ campaigning by rivals.

Ms Chandwani tweeted that a ‘girl from a council estate from Tottenham’ had won top spot, which shows this to be a major victory for grassroots democracy as well as for Labour’s left generally – and for that it’s doubly welcome.

The pair will not take their seats until after this year’s annual Conference in Brighton, which means there will still be a fight to make sure departing CAC members do not take damaging decisions as departing NEC members did at last year’s Liverpool event.

But the left will have a solid majority on the CAC for next year’s, also in Liverpool – which makes this a big win for Labour’s left-wing majority membership.

  1. Well done to SKWAWKBOX for assisting members by shining a light in areas which some at Labour HQ would wish to hide.

  2. This is merely an observation – the right wing of the Labour Party threw everything it had at this election and yet their candidates were totally crushed in this contest.

Jeremy Corbyn delivered almost 13 million votes for Labour in the General Election.

The centrists in the Labour Party haven’t even got enough support to win internal elections.

It is now crystal clear that the right wing of the Labour Party is completely unelectable.

  3. I think it’s time Blairite McNicol recognised which way this democratic Party is heading, and resigned with immediate effect.

The shocking examples of NEC behaviour (suspensions, expulsions, code changing, back stabbing etc etc) is not only abhorrent but is NOT in keeping with the expected conduct of this democratic socialist party.

    Go NOW, McNicol.

    1. Could Tom (I promise to support the Leader 100%) Watson please join McNicol and look for another job. A membership led democratic Socialist Party is no place for either of you.
