Mann responds whether ASB pamphlet will target Travellers

John Mann MP

As the SKWAWKBOX revealed earlier today, ‘moderate’ Labour MP John Mann, known for his aggressive confrontation with former London Mayor Ken Livingstone, was spoken to by police late last year about an anti-social behaviour pamphlet Mann had published, in what police described as a hate-incident investigation.

Police officers told Mr Mann that if he planned to republish the brochure – as he now says he does – the law “would require” that the new version,

should identify the problem (i.e. unauthorised encampment) and not single out a group of people as responsible for the problem (i.e. Travellers).

The SKWAWKBOX asked Mr Mann whether the new version would specifically mention Travellers, but did not receive his response in time for publication of the earlier article. That answer has now been received.

It says:

Wait and see.

Seriously.

  1. John Mann faces two choices.

He can choose to continue to target a specific ethnic group in his pamphlet on anti-social behaviour. When Mr Mann did this previously, the police categorised his actions as a “hate incident”. As that hate incident focussed on an ethnic group it was therefore a racist hate act.

Alternatively, Mr Mann can remove that section from the publication, thereby admitting his previous publication contained racist material.

This type of racism is completely unacceptable. The Labour Party has a zero tolerance policy towards racism.

Iain McNicol, the General Secretary of the Labour Party, has so far failed to take any action whatsoever to censure Mann’s racist behaviour. Mr McNicol has therefore implicitly condoned Mr Mann’s race hate acts.

  2. Such a rude man. He does himself no favours behaving like that, including endearing himself to his constituents. I’m sure I would think twice about voting for him even if he is the Labour candidate. He needs to find another career, maybe how to run a desert island.

  3. This odious man had me suspended from the Party for 2 tweets 3 years previously where I had disagreed with him and used the dreadful “deselection” word. Seems he’s not so bothered about using offensive language to others. I still stand by my original comments.

  4. The guy who banged on about paedophilia and anti-Semitism when it suited him but not averse to a bit of anti-Gypsyism himself.

Rightwing fake morality: Never to be confused with genuine moral outrage.

  5. Obnoxious and a travesty in our party. Dear constituents GET RID OF HIM!

Sent from my Xperia E4g. On O2.

  6. Another gobshite the party’d be all the better off without and nobody would miss.

  7. MAN/N, DEFINITELY NOT!
    BELIEVES HIS OWN PRESS, DEFINITELY!
    OBNOXIOUS BULLY, DEFINITELY!
HOW TO WIN FREINDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE!
ONLY IF HE KEEPS HIS OPINIONS TO HIMSELF!
CAN HE FIND A STONE BIG ENOUGH TO CRAWL UNDER?
    I DOUBT IT!
STARVE HIM OF PUBLICITY, SEND HIM BACK TO ANOTHER TIME AND PLACE!
PREFERABLY ANOTHER PARTY THAT BELIEVES IN HIM, JOHN MANN!
    THE PARTY OF ONE!

  8. How can you possibly describe John Mann as “moderate ” ? He is virulently right wing by any objective analysis of his political views .
