Tory ‘patriotism’ means blind applause for idiocy. Who knew? #Brexit

Quite a telling – and scary – moment as Andrea Leadsom let slip a glimpse of the Tory vision of ‘patriotism’ during a Newsnight interview:

According to Ms L, patriotism means unquestioning support for a clearly floundering and incompetent government while they screw up our relations with 27 neighbouring countries.

Not even ‘my country, right or wrong’.

‘My Tories right or wrong’.

The Tories confuse themselves and their good with the country and our good – or more accurately, they want us to.

  1. We’ve all seen the bankers who vote Tory, wrap themselves in union flags and get pissed singing “Land of hope and Glory” at Last Night of the Proms.

It’s the Sam bankers who roll into work on the Monday, see that their party has caused the pound to tumble or made a (bogus) call for action on tax avoidance…

… and it’s the same wankers who then threaten to up sticks and f*ck off to Geneva on the next plane.

    What price patriotism?

  2. To think this “patriot” who seems to think it’s ok for the media to be government mouthpieces, was within a whisker of the Tory leadership.

  3. Surely Patriotic used in this context is sexist ?

  4. Not remotely surprising, coming from the same gobshites that think someone not happy at being sent to work stacking shelves in poundland or tesco for their dole are ‘snobs’.

Kin’ imbeciles. May they all burn in hell.

  5. The Tories become more loathsome every day. Desperation has set in and soon panic will be on the agenda. Expect May to be thrown under the bus by the end of this particular Parliamentary session followed by nasty bloodletting amongst Tory aquabblers who won’t know who to stab in tha back next! More power to their elbows I say!
