Theresa May sank to some serious depths during the election campaign, telling outright lies about Jeremy Corbyn, Diane Abbott and others – as did her party’s official social media feeds.
But today marks a new low.
Theresa May has already delayed her Queen’s Speech until next week – the first time in history that it has happened – and announced yesterday that a deal with the DUP (Democratic Unionist Party) would be finalised today, in yet another delay.
When the tragedy at Grenfell Tower hit the news this morning, nothing was heard from May for hours – to the consternation of many, who felt she was failing (again) in her duty as PM:
So Theresa May (or whoever runs her social media) hasn't tweeted since before the election. Not even to acknowledge the Grenfell tragedy.

Now May has broken her silence – but only via a spokesperson – to exploit the tragedy as cover for her continued failure to agree any kind of support arrangement with the DUP leader Arlene Foster:
Let’s call this what it is. A domestic tragedy like Grenfell Tower is awful and might justify the delay of an announcement until the next day.
It does not require a delay until some time next week.
The Tories don’t have a deal ready – and they have a Queen’s Speech next Monday that cannot credibly be delayed again. If they had one, they’d be announcing it at the latest by tomorrow.
To hide their absolute chaos, incompetence and weakness, they are hiding behind the deaths, injuries and homelessness caused by the terrible events at Grenfell Tower.
Events for which they bear responsibility for their fire service cuts, resistance to laws requiring sprinklers to be installed in tower blocks, their blocking of laws to require landlords to make buildings safe for people to live in and the decision by Theresa May’s new chief of staff (and ex-MP) to ‘shelve’ a report into risks in such blocks:
More than 70 of these Conservative MPs are landlords themselves. I will name all of them, then you can ask them why they did it. pic.twitter.com/lGRqLRHECR

For shame.

Well bury your head in the sand why don’t you, Tories. No sand in Number 10? Well just get some, like how you make these cuts that allow the tragedies that you use to excuse your incompetence!
But whatever you do, don’t steal the sand from the fire buckets!!
Actually, that’s pretty much the case, metaphorically!: The Tories are burying their heads in the sand of the fire buckets that they stole from the fire stations!!!
Horrible to say, but where were boris’ water cannon?
They’re alright buying stuff for controlling the oiks when their measures cause unrest, but when it comes to people’s safety & wellbeing the rest of the time..:(
