Reporter refs Business Insider to this blog. Next day, BI produces very similar article

Yesterday on Twitter, the Senior Reporter for IB Times responded to a tweet from a Business Insider reporter with a mention of this blog:

Mr Silvera appears to have been attempting a dig at the SKWAWKBOX for an article last week that looked at some ‘minor MSM-ers’ having an echo-chamber session about being mentioned by this blog. The Business Insider reporter appears to be an innocent bystander in the exchange, but it’s worth noting his name.

Mr Silvera wasn’t finished. His follow-up tweet looks like a poor attempt to dismiss the SKWAWKBOX’s content as conspiracy theories:

Which, of course, ignores both how much referenced evidence this blog provides and the fact that the mainstream media often end up playing catch-up.

Speaking of which…

Today, Business Insider published a story on the attempts by Labour right-wingers to use this year’s Labour Conference in Brighton to block left-wing candidates from even standing in future leadership elections. Note the name of one of the authors:

Now that’s interesting.

Last week, the SKWAWKBOX published an article titled Another huge reason the left must organise to win Conference delegates. That article was about exactly the topic covered by Business Insider this morning:

There’s no attribution, of course, but the SKWAWKBOX is used to the mainstream playing catch-up and not giving any credit. Of course, it might just be coincidence – but a pointer to this blog yesterday, 24 hours to gather a few quotes and then publish an article this morning. It would fit.

Whether coincidence or ‘the sincerest form of flattery’, it seems the mainstream are happy to try to undermine this blog – and just as happy to follow its lead.

In case you read the BI article, watch out for an error – it says any future challenger would need the support of at least 20% of Labour MPs and MEPs and links this to Corbyn’s original leadership challenge.

This is not correct. Chapter 4 of Labour’s rule-book states that 20% of MPs/MEPs is needed to challenge an existing leader. When there is no leader in place – as was the case in 2015 – 15% are needed.

The article also references the McDonnell Amendment, which is something the SKWAWKBOX has been raising for months.

Maybe Mr Payne should be thanking Mr Silvera for pointing him to a good source of real news?
